| Caring for aging parents or children with special needs can be exhausting and frustrating. With the help of a gifted therapist (thank you, Lois!), I have designed some aprons, fidget bags, therapy babies and lap blankets that can help keep your loved one busy and safe. These aprons, bags, babies and lap blankets also help reinforce basic skills like zipping, snapping, tieing, counting, and velcroing. The different textures and colors on the various items also help with recognition. The therapy babies are stuffed with flax seed which makes them heavy. The dolls can also be heated in the microwave so the doll feels much like a real baby. Weights can be added to the aprons, bags and blankets to help slow down a loved one with Dementia or Alzheimers who is prone to wandering. Child aprons like the one pictured below are being used in a clinic in Florida as well as a local elementary school to assist Autistic children and other children with disabilities. Another product that is available but is not pictured is a vest. The vest can have therapy items like the zipper, buttons, etc, but can also have bean bags added to make it heavy. Often times, Autistic children respond well to weighted items...a weighted blanket, vest, etc. The weight gives them a sense of security. A vest with weights added is currently being used for an elementary school child who is Autistic. When he gets over stimulated, his teacher allows him to put the vest on and sit in a quiet space in the room so he can calm down. | Lap Blanket $45.00 This particular blanket was customized for an older gentleman who had lost his vision and was a real cowboy. I added a strand of bells for auditory recognition as well as something similar to the fur on a horse. There were basic items like a zipper, velcro flap and beads as well. |
| Child Apron $25.00 This child sized apron is for boys or girls. Child apron can come with zipper, buttons, 2 texture differences (soft & rough), beads for counting and color recognition, and 2 detachable bean bags fit in the front pockets. A photo album can also be added for help with recognizing family members or objects used in daily routine. Can be customized per patient |

Basic apron can have overall buckles, zipper, buttons, shoe strings, 2 different textures (1 soft, 1 rough), velcro lift and look, photo album, beads for counting and color recognition and pockets at the bottom for storage and weights. | Lap Blanket $45.00 This blanket was customized for a dementia patient who loved make-up and fixing her hair. The brush, comb and mirror are detachable for washing. This also comes with shoe strings, zipper, buttons, velcro flap, beads and texture differences. |
Each apron and blanket is machine washable. All specialty items are removable.

| Therapy Doll $50.00 "Sara" the therapy doll can be a great help in giving your loved one a sweet baby to care for. Each doll is made with a soft knit material and stuffed with flax seed which makes the dolls heavy, washable and microwavable. A boy doll named "Sam" is also available. Each doll comes with one outfit. The dolls can also be made smaller for use with children. |
| Fidget Bag $25.00 This handy little bag is perfect for the patient who loves to rummage through looking for their special items. The outer surface of the bag has a zipper, velcro flap, and a string with plastic balls for the patient to play with. Inside, the bag has a comb, mirror, photo album and coin purse with play money. All the interior items are attached with a velcroed ribbon for easy removal when the bag needs washing. |
| All items below can be customized to fit the needs of a particular person. For example, if you have a loved one that likes to bite or chew on things, an apron, vest or blanket can be designed with items that he/she can chew and bite on without hurting themselves. If your child loves to shake and rattle things, bean bags with different items like bells, marbles and beads can be added for him/ her to shake.
